Years 7 & 8

The curriculum at St Augustine’s College has been developed in the spirit of St Marcellin Champagnat who responded to the needs of his time.

As we endeavour to respond to the needs of our time, we strive to deliver an education that gives our Years 7 and 8 students the skills to deal with changes and advancements in our ever changing world.

Subjects offered from Year 7 are specifically chosen and cater for boys' needs, assisting them in their transition from primary school. There is also a focus on developing students’ abilities to maintain personal health and wellbeing and manage personal relationships.

Their studies are based on the National Curriculum and aim to do the following: engage each student at his level of learning readiness, facilitate the transition from primary to secondary school and allow students to experience different subjects offered by specialist teachers, giving them the chance to sample a variety of elective choices.

In Year 7, students currently undertake six-week rotational subjects that include drama, music, visual art, digital technology, food technology and graphics.

In Year 8, students select one of the arts subjects (drama, music or visual arts) to study for one semester and design technology for one semester.
