Sports

Humble in victory, gracious in defeat

Sport is synonymous with the Saints experience, encouraging boys to discover personal strength borne of competition and camaraderie. The College is committed to the ongoing development of all sports and is particularly keen to see all participants, across all ability levels, developing and improving their sporting skills, sport-specific fitness and team spirit.

Our teams compete each week in inter-school competitions. Students not involved in representative sports are offered a wide variety of recreational activities.

Competing within the CISSA sporting competition (in senior school) and JSS (in junior school), Saints students can participate in many sports with pathways to regional, state and national levels.

SPORTING EXCELLENCE

The College is focused on developing its sporting programs, employing highly experienced professional coaches and building strong links with sporting clubs in our local community. Our students are encouraged to pursue their interests and passions in independent sports associations and competitions. Several students are developing skills as top-line referees and officials.

HOUSE SPORTING COMPETITIONS

A great college tradition is the interhouse sporting competitions. These events provide team spirit and allow house captains to be involved in team organisation and leadership. They also increase the opportunities for students to participate in sport.

The house sporting competitions currently held are:

  • An annual whole-school swimming carnival. The program includes traditional strokes and novelty events to increase student participation
  • An annual whole-school athletics carnival. There are extensive track and field events along with novelty events to increase participation and fun
  • An annual whole-school cross-country event is held at one of several courses in the city

All three carnivals, combined with the annual Senior Shield and our Champagnat Day games, contribute to house points which decide the champion (and wooden spooner!) house each year.
