St Augustine's College

An education in the marist tradition

Parent Forum

Family Involvement is a Key Feature of Catholic Education

St Augustine’s Parent Forums have replaced the traditional P&F structure. This change was made in consultation with parents and with Catholic School Parents Queensland because of the dwindling numbers of parents attending meetings and the need for an improved way to engage them. Such forums allow parents to assist their sons with links to learning and with the school strategic plan as well as providing them with information on specific areas of interest.

This group operates under a charter instead of a constitution, but the charter maintains certain key items which need to be included such as section 3 and 8 of the previous constitution (linking to objectives and funds) as well as the parental Code of Conduct.

This will be a trial for 1-3 years with a review every year to ensure we are meeting parents' needs and providing the strongest opportunities for their engagement.

  • The meetings involve an update from the Principal, perhaps a guest speaker, a tour of the school, a targeted discussion and plenty of time for questions.
  • You can provide input by emailing sac.communications@cns.catholic.edu.au if you have ideas or thoughts about topics for discussion.
  • Those wishing to be involved in the new model will be known as parent advisors, as opposed to a formal executive, who will meet to discuss the expenditure of funds and upcoming forums.  Interested parents can contact sac.communications@cns.catholic.edu.au.

Four meetings will be held each year at 5.30pm in the school boardroom, behind the office.

The meetings for 2023 are as follows:

  • Friday 16 February - Parent Forum will start at 5pm prior to the New Parent Welcome Evening at 6pm
  • Monday 27 May
  • Monday 26 August
  • Monday 21 October
