The College places strong emphasis on the development of leadership qualities in its students. Its approach to leadership is based on Christian principles of service and compassion, and the Marist values of good example, honesty and commitment. Training programmes draw on the Christian gospel, on the example of St Marcellin Champagnat, and on the wisdom of the general literature of leadership.
Each year, the College holds a leadership camp, and a number of workshops and opportunities for its leaders. Senior leaders also attend a course on Marist leadership with student leaders from all other Marist schools in Queensland.
A number of opportunities exist for leadership at each Year level. As well as the positions of College Captain and Vice Captain, there are the roles of SRC President, Academic Captain, Arts Captain, Sports Captain, Liturgy Captain, Public Speaking Captain, Service Captain, Boarding Captain, and four House Captains and Vice Captains. The Student Representative Council meets regularly and is a student-driven and active group.
