Each year the College puts on a dinner in various regions in which the boarding families live. They are usually held every second year in each location and are open to all families local to that area. They range from events held reasonably close by such as Innisfail, Port Douglas, the Tablelands and Mission Beach, to some a little further afield such as Cooktown, Weipa and the Northern Territory.
The rationale behind Country Dinners is twofold. It is the chance for families to get to know each other, as well as some of the College staff, and an opportunity for St Augustine’s to show our appreciation for the boarding families and their support. Although the dinner may vary in location, style and numbers of participants, it is always an occasion of warm welcome and the sense of family that is prevalent throughout St Augustine’s frequently shines though at these dinners.
These instances can also be an opportunity for potential boarding families in remote areas to have first contact with staff from St Augustine’s.
